It was when we were faced with this deplorable statistic that we decided to take concrete steps to improve our business practices.

In 2019, we surveyed our customers to better understand their consumer behavior, but especially to know the importance they attach to the eco-responsible practices of the businesses they frequented regularly. We had implemented several initiatives in recent years, but we wanted to make sure we made the best choices and developed appropriate strategies. That's why we turned to the company Maillon Vert . This Quebec company is the first to offer dual expertise in sustainable development and business strategies to support the eco-responsible shift, particularly in neighborhood pharmacies. Le Cafellini is the first restaurant company to be part of this pilot project.

The Café Éco+responsable approach involves several steps that lead us to examine all aspects of our business practices such as our purchases from suppliers, the management of our waste, our involvement in the community and the energy optimization of our branches.

Our commitment

We are committed to starting now to initiate the necessary changes for an eco-responsible shift. We firmly believe that the more aware we are of the impacts of our consumption habits, the more we will be able to reduce our ecological footprint as a company in a vision of sustainable development. The survey conducted with Maillon Vert among our customers revealed that more than 80% of our customers are ready to make the shift and want to be part of the change. That is good news and it is motivating!

First steps in our eco-responsible shift

The biggest waste generated by a café like ours is single-use cups. After several months of research, we are still looking for one that meets our sustainable consumption criteria. It turns out that finding locally made disposable cups with a percentage of recycled materials is a big challenge. This is why we strongly encourage you to bring your reusable cups because it remains the least harmful solution for the environment. In addition, when the pandemic is behind us, we will start offering you $0.25 off your favorite drink when you present your reusable cup!
